Koidu New Sembehun City Council Holds Monthly Ordinary Meeting

The Koidu New Sembehun City Council (KNSCC) on Thursday 25th September, 2025 convened its Ordinary Monthly Meeting at the Sahr Musa Sessie Gbenda Hall. The meeting attracted the attention of Elected Council Officials, Administrative Staff, Civil Society Representatives, Devolved Sector Heads, the Press and residents of Koidu Municipality.

Presided over by Mayor Komba Matthew Sam, the meeting focused on ongoing development initiatives, financial updates, and future plans for the municipality.

Mayor Sam commended Councillors for their commitment to service delivery and outlined key achievements under his leadership. These include the completion of several culverts and the handing over of the construction of nine new culverts at Bungalow, Benevolent School, Musa Street, Koroma Street, and Boroma Road in Tankoro

He also updated participants on the European Union–funded 12-room guesthouse project, revealing that procurement has begun with the purchase of a vehicle and computers and the land for the facility has been secured. The project, he said, will also provide an internship package and training sessions for councillors and core staff.

In a move to strengthen governance, the Mayor announced the appointment of Councillor Daniel Kembay as head of the newly constituted Works Committee.

With the Chief Administrator and Finance Officer absent, the Acting Deputy Chief Administrator Josiah Kondewa presented the Council’s Financial Update, confirming that two months of outstanding salaries for junior staff had been paid.

Councillors present engaged in discussions, raised community concerns, and offered recommendations to enhance service delivery.

The meeting concluded with a motion for adjournment moved by Councillor Kumba Nyandemoh and seconded by Deputy Mayor Sheku Kamara.
